You can't evict me. You can't boot my car. My garage remote doesn't work. I don't have access to the pool or clubroom!! I PAY MY RENT ON TIME AND I HAVE RIGHTS! Actually you DON'T!
If you are renting a condominium or home that is within an Association, you may be surprised to learn, in most cases, that you have NO RIGHTS. In fact, you could get caught in the middle of some pretty horrific issues if your homeowner isn't paying their mortgage or association fees.

Did you know that most Association Bylaws and related state laws will allow Board of Directors to take aggressive measures to collect delinquent fees? This can include booting or towing vehicles and restricting the use of the common area parking or amenities. Homeowners who become delinquent in their mortgage can be foreclosed and their renter can be evicted without prior knowledge or warning.

It is up to the Homeowner to communicate with their renter, and in most cases, they don't.

As Homeowners, first and foremost, you should keep your Mortgage and Association dues current. You should communicate with your renter if timely payment becomes an issue, and at the very least, let your renter know when actions have escalated so they don't get caught in the crossfire. I would love to hear your thoughts?
